Nanocomposites made from thermoplastic linear poly(urethane-siloxane) and organoclay: Composition impact on the properties

نویسندگان

چکیده

Thermoplastic poly(urethane-siloxane)/organoclay nanocomposites (TPU NCs) with different hard segment content (20?55 wt. %) were prepared by in situ polymerization the presence of organically modified montmorillonite as a nanofiller (Cloisite 30B; 1 %). Hydroxyl-terminated ethoxypropyl- poly(dimethylsiloxane) was used soft segment, while 4,4'-methylenediphenyl diisocyanate and 1,4-butanediol components. The study influence on functional properties TPU NCs performed Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy, X-ray diffractometry (XRD), atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron (SEM), dynamic mechanical thermal analyses (DMTA), differential calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), water contact angle absorption tests. results revealed that increasing exhibit higher values degree microphase separation, melting temperature segments, crystallinity, storage modulus (except for NC-55), but lower stability hydrophobicity. NC films hydrophobic their free surface energy range from 17.7 to 24.9 mJ m-2. This work highlights how composition would affect provide an additional intended designing advanced materials special biomedical applications.

Evolution of Microstructure and Physical Properties of PMMA/ MWCNTs Nanocomposites upon the Addition of Organoclay

The present investigation was carried out to evaluate the application of Cloisite 30B organoclay (C30B) on the rheological, structural, electrical, and thermal characteristics of poly (methyl methacrylate)/multiwalled carbon nanotubes nanocomposites (PMMA/MWCNTs) fabricated by the simultaneous melt mixing. The microstructure and the state of nanofllers dispersion wereassessed by melt line...

Mechanical Properties of Nonwoven Reinforced Thermoplastic Polyurethane Composites

Reinforcement of flexible fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) composites with standard textile fibres is a potential low cost solution to less critical loading applications. The mechanical behaviour of FRPs based on mechanically bonded nonwoven preforms composed of either low or high modulus fibres in a thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) matrix were compared following compression moulding. Nonwoven pr...

The Effects of Thermoplastic Polyurethane on the Structure and Mechanical Properties of Modified Polypropylene Blends

In this study, a melt-compounding process was used to produce ordinary polypropylene (PP)/thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) blends and modified impact-resistant polypropylene (MPP)/TPU blends. The influences of TPU on the blending morphology, melting behavior, crystallization behavior, and mechanical properties of these blends were investigated. Differential scanning calorimetry results show tha...
